I’m Getting Married!
Two weeks ago today, my boyfriend surprised me by getting down on one knee…. Now I’m getting married!
OUR STORY 7/12/2014:
I met Jai back in 2014 at a party for a friend of my friend. This is not a story of I met him and instantly knew he was the one. I definitely would not have predicted this. Let’s just say that my relationship with him was out of my norm. That night at the party he approached my friend and I as we were outside sitting on a car. We began talking and at some point my friend left us. While everyone else outside were mingling together, we remained on the car talking. A mutual friend of ours came up and told him to stop trying to talk to me. His response was something along the lines of just wanting to be friends. So later that night as we put an end to our conversation so we could go back to our friends he asked for my number. I had no problem sharing because well he just wanted to be “friends.” *rolls eyes*
Boyfriend and Girlfriend 7/9/2015:
We met in July, but due to my busy summer schedule we didn’t see each other again until September. Our first date was to the movies. (We had some issues regarding transportation that we still argue about today.) I’m ashamed to say I don’t know what movie we saw. He claims to remember what we saw and what we wore, but I disagree. Our second date I took him out to eat for his birthday. From then on he was at my house as much as he could be.The following year rolls around.
On June 9, 2015 he came by my house and gave me an edible arrangement that asked me to be his girlfriend. Now that I think about it, I’m not really sure if I ever gave him an answer. Now here we are 4 years later and I’m writing a post titled I’m Getting Married.
The Proposal 7/12/2018:
I knew the proposal was coming. I actually even said it would be on the exact date. He tried to play it off, but I just knew. Last year for our anniversary we only had time for dinner after we got off work. This year he tells me early on that we aren’t doing that again. The week before our anniversary he asked me to put a vacation day in. He started talking about ideas that he had for us to do and everything.
After getting off work Thursday morning, he entered the apartment signing “Do you know what today is.. it’s our anniversary” off key and loud. He stated that we would be having breakfast to start the morning at Another Broken Egg. We ate breakfast and made a stop by Victoria Secret (I couldn’t resist the $3 panties). After spending an hour or so in Victoria Secret we walk outside to pouring rain. We make it to the house and he states that he needs to take a nap. I knew he would crash sooner or later so I wasn’t surprised. While waiting on him get up I accidentally fell asleep as well so we didn’t wake up when we were supposed to.
Once we were up I was told we had to be at the Escape Room by 5:00. This didn’t ring any alarms because we have been before and had been stating that we needed to go back. Once we arrive, Jai is “surprised” to see someone he knows in the lobby. After introductions are made and we watch the video for our room, the game begins. Some kind of way I end up being the person left in the room to enter the directions on the lock that lets us out of the room and ends the game. As the directions are being called to me, Jai gets the signal to leave the room. When I finally get the door open he was on the other side on one knee. Literally all I could say was “Oh wow.”Unfortunately our photographer did not show. So the only pictures I have are from the video that was taken.
After I stopped laughing (nervous habit) and he finally asked, he took me around the corner to see a few of our family and friends all holding out cameras. My mom decided that everyone needed to wear white shirts and blue jeans. I promise I had no clue about anything. But somehow I managed to wear that exact outfit. My mom and I were practically matching. Jai on the other hand was so nervous when we left the house that he forgot all about the color scheme. After taking a few pictures we left for dinner. Afterwards a few friends came over to our place and just enjoyed the night.Honestly, it took a while for it to set in that I am now engaged. I mean I am someone’s fiancée. When I met him at 21, I never imagined I would be saying YES at 25. Thank you SO much to everyone for all the love and well wishes we received. We definitely appreciate it all. Planning a wedding is going to be a crazy ride, but we are so happy!! I’m getting married!!!
I haven’t made any progress on anything wedding related as of today. But I definitely plan to blog about it as much as I can. Stay tuned!
P.S click here to see the proposal on IG 🙂
Fun Fact: I have always stated that I didn’t want a holiday proposal (ex: Christmas, St. Patrick’s Day, etc.). I also didn’t want a proposal on a day that was already taken (ex: graduation).
